Basic Electrical training course is an introduction to the electronics industry and includes everything needed to have a basic understanding of the skills needed to become an electrician.

The course is very flexible and has been designed to ensure that you gain a good understanding of all the different topics. During the training you will learn both practical skills and develop a basic knowledge of the theory, to ensure you can work safely and responsibly.

The Basic Electrical course has been developed to give you a taster of the basic skills which will help you decide if a career in this trade is for you.

.What will I learn?

The Foundation Electrical course has been designed to give you a basic overview of the skills required to work as an electrician. This includes learning how to;

Commercial
  • Connect flex to common apparatus and install a one way lighting circuit.
  • Apply a lighting circuit to mains power.
  • Installing a smoke alarm.
  • Lighting circuits and ring main circuits from a consumer unit.
  • Using single conductor cable and twin and earth conductor cable in conduit.

.What are my career prospects?

A career in Electronics has many possibilities, some electricians progress to technician level and then to supervisory roles or site management. You could also become self employed and run your own business.

.What are the entry requirements?

You do not need any formal qualification to join the course, although an interest in electronic is necessary.

The course is free of charge and in certain cases you may be eligible for help towards your travel costs.

Once you have successfully completed the training you will be awarded the Ascentis Entry Level 3 Certificate to the Construction Industry and Level 1 Preparing for employment in the Construction Industry, as well as certificates in Functional Skills, Personal and Social Development and Employability.
